Since their cult first single 'Reach Inside' in 1997, Julian
Bendall and Alice Russell (aka Bah Samba) have been fusing deep
soulful house with the live excitement and passion of traditional
Brazilian music. Their long-awaited debut album with its warm
summer vibe takes on US producers like Miguel Migs and Jay Denes
at their own game. Far more than just another technology-obsessed
couple of nerds, Bah Samba are both pumping for the dancefloor
and blissfully live. From the opening track of 'Reach Inside',
the funk driven "It Tastes Good", the Carnival spirit
of "My Spirit Soars" and the almost (whisper it) acid
jazz of 'All I Ever Wanted', Alice's soulful and effortless hip
vocals reach out and whisk you off to the well toasted beaches
of Brazil. Samba and Jazz drenched sounds gracefully take on the
challenge of getting you dancing while touching you on all levels
of emotions from its sheer soulfulness. |
